After spending a lot of time diving in South East Asia my two favorite places are Komodo in Indonesia and around Mabul and Sipadan in Malaysia. Massive schools of small zebra fish and a variety of colorful fish swims close to the surface. Famed for manta rays, sharks and huge schools of fish as well as ripping currents this is the area you want to head to if you want to experience the best scuba diving that Komodo has to offer! Greeted by large manta ray! Site with the most huge trevallies, came very close. And even with this added speed the dive boat was still comfortable and stable which included a sundeck on top too so you can soak up the sunshine throughout the day. The advantage to this is that they can both head to separate dive sites, suitable for the level of divers on board.
There are liveaboards at a huge variety of budgets operating around Komodo, before you book do research and read reviews on the boats. Keeping a close eye on your Deco time youll then use the current to cruise around the side of the pinnacle before heading out to the second one at about 14m where youll explore more incredible soft coral gardens filled with all kinds of marine life a heaven for macro divers too.
