Has held up or over a year in FL sunny ass weather. it comes in black and also yellow.

Anyone else? If so, how is it holding up? Had to buy some duct tape until I got to a parts store.

Don't think it's covered under the CarMax warranty.

Thanksif that's the case, I may leave out the sealer/glue when I get to doing this.

For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding. I think its just a filler to prevent air and, or moisture from collecting under the windshield. After replacing, mine "whistled" in the wind, so I out some black gasket silicone under it along the top.

nice to see so many more people doing this.

The first time it happened, it scared the crap outta me too. I just cleaned up the area and bought some weatherstripping adhesive (it's a black looking paste) Squeezed a whole bunch and wiped off the excess.

Sure enough, the rubber trim at the bottom was sticking out.

I recall seeing a forum member use black silicone. wd40 looks good for a bit, but will accelerate cracking over time.

If so, know where I can get it? I am going to try to find that weatherstripping adhesive that was mentioned, apply it, and call it good.

windshield

I just happened across this Permatex sealant, which looks like a better choice than that gasket maker I mentioned earlier! Are you kidding? you can buy this 3m weatherstrip adhesive at most auto parts stores.

2019 Premium Tungsten with dealer SoA tow package, dealer fog lights.

Will ask the dealer to fix it at the next oil change.

I have a lot of driving to do this weekend and it's very annoying.

Kevin, you say ureathane, is that something other than the aforementioned weatherstripping adhesive?

SUCKED. Yeah don't worry about it I fix these kinds of problems often I work at a glass shop what you want to use is ureathane just make sure not to get it on yourself and make sure the molding is dry otherwise it will not stick, and let it dry overnight if not use some painters tape to hold it in place while driving until it drys.

I've used. Mine didn't come off while driving, it came off at a car wash (the blow-dryers that blast the water off the car blew it off).

That has never happened to me, but I did have a windshield changed once, and I put a new rubber around it. While driving home from Sedona this week weve noticed that the weatherstripping on the exterior of the windshield is coming loose from the lower drivers side and flapping.

Weve never had to deal with glass or window issues so we dont want to get burned with our first one.

It will never come loose.

Pushing the rubber trim back in makes it go away. Due to safty issues concerning air bags, the front and rear glass should be secured on to prevent them from blowing out when the air bags deploy. just ordered my trim, debating the tray under the wipers #51717017022. Also check with your auto insurance carrier and see if you have windshield coverage.

stripping steele JavaScript is disabled. This starts to crack after a few years. The cost should not be very much at all.

Just looking at the pics, and at mine which isn't doing that, I'd guess that the rubber gasket was cut a little too long and installed with some longitudinal compression, which is making it bow up.

It will bring the natural darker color back. If so, how much do you think I would cost me?

Gonna have to go back. It's lame how easily this trim comes loose.

I re-installed the seal where it goes and carried on.

There's really no way to replace that rubber trim, without removing the glass My '03 has the same problem, yet to be addressed, MY'03 XS AT offroad; MY10 Triton / L200 GLX-R. Replaced mine too.

i had mine replaced. Glass shops replace bonded windshields all the time. While we can kind of tuck it in and keep it down for awhile it eventually comes loose and is slowly coming apart more and more from the glass.

That's not normal or common. '19 Premium, CBP, Opt Pkg #12, etc.

But I noticed that some butyl is used to seal the glass to the frame. Obviously, they did not use any sealer from factory. Once you install it and see how easy it is, you'll wonder why you ever worried.

have mine sitting in the garage, old one is off & ready to go. I think in 24 hours they will fix that. Create an account to follow your favorite communities and start taking part in conversations.

It seems like its getting caught by the wind and vibrating/hitting the windshield making the sound. When I arrived at my location, i noticed the the rubber seal had separated from the cowl cover. I would suggest taking it to a auto body shop and inquire about it. depends on how well it lays down for you.

And the silicon is really only optional?

Service center is closed on the weekends and that noise is getting irritating, so I think I'll try the weatherstripping adhesive.

So, has anyone here ever had the rubber weather stripping that goes across the top of your front windshield come off whileumwell, at speed? Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts.

fingers are raw.

If the glass isnt chipped or cracked, youll save on materials costs.

AT4X versions of the GMC Sierra and Canyon.

Just take it to a glass shop and get an estimate.

It started flapping around again this weekend. If your weather strip is not cracked but looking a bit ugly/faded from previous wax jobs. get a rag and some WD40 and scrub it. it is not the best thing for rubber/plastic.

happened to me on FLs turnpike.

Im already starting to dread the potential bill here. Most auto body repair shops offer free estimates. stripping steele Before then, just wanted to check in to see if this has been an issue for others. At least for me.

Figure a picture would helpkeep pushing it back in place but it keep getting pulled out on the highway. Wait until the upper edge starts to fall apart.

CarMax is closed on the weekends.

The buzzing noise that sounded like it was coming from the center console was driving me crazy (2020 Ascent Premium). Just bought a Honda Civic yesterday from CarMax and the weather stripping around the windshield is coming off and flapping everywhere. That was recommended by the glass place, and with the way parts will be drying up for our cars, it might be a good idea to get a new one and be done with it.

It needs to be fixed.

As a matter of fact, since its simply the trim piece that needs replacing, they probably won;t even have to remove the glass.

It goes on my list for the 6-month maintenance visit in November.

Hope this helped.

CarMax has a five day full return policy and at least 30-day warranty (longer in some states).

I started hearing a rattle which seemed like it was coming from the display on top of the dash when I was on the highway.

SOOOO I attempted this last night and it was a miserable failure.

Do we need to have the weatherstripping replaced on the entire windshield or just the exterior, is it a major or minor problem, how big or small of a job is it and how much can we expect to pay for the repair?

Thanks for the DIY.

I would bank on that stuff wearing off and allowing it to pop off like that.

This has happened to me more times than I can count.

I've been pondering how to fix that? http://www.streetsideauto.com/p/3m-08011/?utm_source=googlepepla&utm_medium=adword&gclid=CJH4lfmvob4CFTMA7AodNhQATQ. So the strip doesn't come with self-adhesive? See your dealer service department. Is there something I can use to put it back in place or should I go to an auto glass repair shop and see if they can fix it?

Sure it's easy enough to fix yourself but FYI. It's just glued on. Its currently loose to about 1/2 way across the windshield, The glass might need to be removed to put in the new reveal moulding, Thanks. The rubber gasket around the windshield is the seal that keeps water out. Tech discussions, turbo & tuning and more. Hey all, my SG appears to have some weather stripping coming up from around the upper corners of my windshield. doesn't exactly complicate the install anyway.

The tear is in the lower corner of the windshield on the drivers side and moving across towards the passenger side.

Guys, thank you all for your feedback. I did this, and the tray under the wiper arms, about 1-1/2 years ago.

Before the GTO, I took all kinds of cars thru that car wash with no problems, but now I can't use it. Didn't see that on the paper I was given Maybe I missed it.

I've worked with messy stuff before, caulked a bathroom, and got it looking great on my first go-round, so I think I'll be able to handle this as well.

I just noticed this on my 2020 Touring (purchased in May 2020). I added this without removing it again and it seems fine now. If that doesn't work, I'll go to the service center during the week.

Your choice, of course, but dealer service for warranty work is how I'd handle it.

It is kind of odd to have a weather strip at the bottom of a windshield. noticed mine this week was wondering where the buzzing sound was coming from dealer ordered new parts. This one mentions for use on weather striping!

It shouldnt be all that bad. I did this last weekend.

just glue it back in where it was coming loose. So correct.

Were the best Subaru Forester Owners Forum to talk about the best years of the Subaru Forester, modifications and reliability history of the Subaru Forester.

did them both today, tray and trim.

Sides are very snug, but the top has a lot more play. I might buy another one for myself, since it's a matter of time before a new windshield will be needed. Now defunct.

Some even do it in your driveway, weather permitting.

I just noticed my 2020 Ascent is having this issue as well.

Based on my observation of some windshield replacements, taking care of the issue you show may every well involve dealing with the whole windshield and that's not DIY, especially with re-calibration required if it has to be pulled or replaced.

Come discuss mods, horsepower, engine specs and more! Has anyone else had any issues with the rubber weather stripping between the windshield cowl cover (where the windshield wipers are) and the actual windshield?
